The Cluster Sofia Knowledge City (CSKC) took part in the EU-Taiwan Cluster Matchmaking Event in 6-8 March 2019 in Lyon (France). CSKC and CASTRA were the only Bulgarian participants in this important meeting, organised by the European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP). CSKC was represented by the member of the Advisory Board of the cluster Dimitar Filipov, whose company is active member of the cluster organisation.

The EU-Taiwan Cluster Matchmaking Event 2019 was organised in the context of the of the GLOBAL INDUSTRIE fair. The overall objective of the event was to foster collaboration between European and Taiwanese clusters for the benefit of their SME members. The event was organised by the ECCP in cooperation with Taiwan’s Bureau of Foreign Trade (BoFT) - Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), the Chinese National Federation of Industries (CNFI), Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Enterprises (EEN Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes - France) and Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA, EEN).

The event gathered the participation of 23 European clusters, as well as 12 Taiwanese clusters. Both delegations represented different focus areas: Manufacturing technologies and equipment; Mechanical engineering and metalworking; and Smart industry and connected factory: cobotics, augmented reality, predictive maintenance, digitisation of production. Moreover, the delegations included clusters with a main core sector related to a user market of the focus areas above: Aerospace, cosmetics, energy, food industry, textiles and transports and mobility. Through this 3-day event, the delegates had the opportunity to participate in the following activities:
• EU-Taiwan Cluster Cooperation Seminar
• EU-Taiwan Matchmaking meetings, including more than 90 C2C as well as C2B meetings
• Visit to meet INSA Lyon

Apart from participating in the most of the activities Dimitar provided many individual meetings with European and Taiwan’s counterparts and could studied interesting cluster policies and good practices from dozens of clusters. One of the results of his participation in the event is the expected MoU that is to be signed between SCKC and one scientific cluster from Taipei, after some days. More detailed information and reflections after the events and the following up actions including the signature of the memorandum will be published in our Blog section, next days.
